Dear Brethren,

Last Sunday worshipping at Bethany Evangelical Free Church

Today is our last Sunday worshipping at Bethany Evangelical Free Church. The Lord is good to let us rent this premises for about 14 good years for our Lord’s Day worship services, Tuesday Prayer meeting and various adhoc activities through the years. I can still recall the first time coming to this Church for our worship service and everything was so new and uncer-tain then. When we are so comfortably and happily settled here after so many years, the Lord has His higher purpose for us to move out of our comfort and familiar zone. Why? This is to remind us nothing in this world is permanent. We are strangers and pilgrims in this world (1 Pet 2:11) and we ought to set our affections on things above (Col 3:2). It is time to be united and look to the Lord as we move to a new premises in Changi Beth-any Church!

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” Hebrews 12: 2a

United Together in the Move

I can understand the reluctance and anxiety in the change of a new premis-es for our Church. For some of you, the new place is more inconvenient as it requires longer travelling time. For others, you may find it hard to adjust to the new environment and the new worship hall. Some may be tempted to leave or to complain about all the changes. In the move, we may have over-looked some of your needs and concerns. Disunity can destroy the Church and our testimony for the Lord. Let the love of God be in our hearts to be kind, tender hearted and forgiving to each other (Eph 4:32). We must pray for unity in our Church in the move of premises as we see the Lord’s High-er Hand leading us together for His glory.

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3

Praying Together in the Move

We must recognise that without prayers, all our work is in vain and they will not be done to the glory of God. As we make our move to the new premises next Sunday, God willing, we must follow what God tells us which is to pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17). There is great urgency and need to pray and we must pray earnestly and importunately to seek the Lord for His blessings and guidance in this change of premises. May I urge you to pray, pray more and pray even more as we go though this change of premises together. When we pray, the Lord is pleased to bless and lead us.
