Dear Brethren,

Invite Someone to Church

“Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shall find it after many days.” Ecclesiastes 11:1

Every week I look forward to having new visitors for our Sunday worship service. It is not about having more people in Church but rather desiring and rejoicing that this new friend has the opportunity to hear the Word of God. The best gift we can give someone is the Word of God which is the Word of Life. God will bring different people to cross our life’s path. Let us always tell them we are Christians and invite them to our Sunday worship service. Many may reject us but you never know one day there is someone that God has prepared to want to come to our Church and then to know Christ personally. The Lord can use us but we must first be willing and ready to open our mouth to invite them to Church.

Recently I met an Indian young lady whom I taught at Temasek Polytechnic more than 15 years ago. She thanked me for bringing her back to the Lord because in one of my class, I asked a question “Who is a Christian?” My former student was stunned by this question and pondered over it. God spoke to her and she was brought back to the Lord. She is now attending Gethsemane BP Church. Frankly I have forgotten the incident and it also did not occur to me God can use a simple question that I posed to the class about Christianity. Let the application of the verse in Ecclesiastes 11:1 encourages us to “cast our bread upon many waters”…keep inviting people to Church, keep giving out Gospel tracts, keep telling others you are a Christian, and you will never know one day, maybe even 15 years later, you will see the fruit of your labour “to find your bread after many days.”

Gospel Worship Service 30 November 2014

“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes,
and look on the fields: for they are white already to harvest.” John 4: 35

I wonder if each one of us has been mindful of the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 4: 35 and working hard towards winning souls for Christ. It will be a sad day for Tabernacle BP Church if we are complacent with our current state and lose the zeal for the dying souls of men. In fact, that will be the day of our decline as we fail in our duty to obey the great commission the Lord has given to us. Let not the great commission become the great omission in our church!

There is a wonderful opportunity on 30 November Gospel Worship Sunday to do something for Christ. Pray and bring an unbelieving friend to the Gospel service. This is the last and fourth Gospel service for the year. If you have not done anything in the first 3 Gospel services, may the Lord have mercy on us to move our hearts to do something now. The year 2014 is coming to a close very soon. Souls are perishing before our eyes. The field is indeed white to harvest. Use the Gospel worship handbill to invite someone! God can use you for His glory.

Monthly Church Evangelism

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.”
Romans 1:16a

Once a month the church organises evangelism for all of us to reach out the Gospel to the neighbourhood around us. Would you not come and do something for the Lord? It is only once a month to commit about 1.5 hour of our time to evangelism. I do not think it is the time factor why we do not come for evangelism. It is more a heart matter where we have lost our zeal for souls. It could also being ashamed to speak the Gospel of Christ.

Let Romans 1:16 encourage us for the Gospel of Christ is powerful – not your power or my power but God’s power to save souls. Preach the Gospel, give out the church Gospel tract, and trust God to work in hearts of men to save them for Salvation is of the Lord.
