“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” II Timothy 3:16-17

Tabernacle BPC has 3 sunday school classes, the Adult & Youth Sunday School, Little Ark and Tabertots. Additionally we have Basic Bible Class for new members and also the Domestic Helper Ministry.

Adult & Youth Sunday School

The Adult & Youth Sunday School is for all church members aged 13 & above.  Thank God for the completion of the study on the Attributes of God. Which helped realign our thinking with divine characteristics revealed in Scriptures. Truly man’s finite mind is not able to comprehend the greatness of our God.

Sunday School lessons are taught every Sunday at 5.15pm after the worship service.  May we be blessed and established by the Word of God.

The Little Ark

The Little Ark is split into Class 1 and Class 2, with a total of 10 precious children, aged 7 to 12.

The year 2010, for Class 1, our biblical study focuses on the Westminster Shorter Catechism. In the words of B.B. Warfield: “It is worth while to be a Shorter Catechism boy. They grow to be men. And better than that, they are exceedingly apt to grow to be men of God”. We pray that, by the grace of God, every boy and girl in Class 1 who gives their heart and mind to the studying of WSC will indeed grow up to be men and women after God’s own heart – and greatly used of Him!

Also, it is our heartfelt desire and prayer that all our Little Ark children keep in their hearts the first question of WSC {Q.1 What is the chief end of man?} and imbibe the answer {A. Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.} as the guiding principle in what they do in and with their lives.

The teaching syllabus covers 3 questions per month with a ‘fill in the missing words’ test on the 4th week. Also, it is absolutely essential that teacher goes through the Scripture proof texts to ensure that what we study in WSC is based on the infalliable Word of God. On 5-week months, one or two chosen students will present lessons based on a given topic on the 5th week, after which teachers will complete the lessons and give applications. We trust that, in this way, the children themselves learn to search the Scriptures. We will continue with this format till all 107 WSC questions are completed in 2012, God willing.

For Class 2, it is the exciting study on the Books of the Bible at the rate of 1book per month. The teacher will teach [1] overview, [2] key words, [3] memory verse(s), [4] important events/people, [5] main message. Likewise, we will continue till all the 66books are completed in 2012, God willing.

As we recount God’s goodness and tender mercies, we praise and thank Him, once again, for His mercies and lovingkindnesses, in overseeing the little flock in The Little Ark, preserving the teaching of His precious Word and wonderfully keeping each class of pupils we have, year after year! The burden of teaching is heavy on each teacher, not just because , on average, each of them teachers 3 months a year, but more so because the burden of teaching and rightly dividing the Word of God is an awesome task, not to be taken and undertaken lightly! For “if error be harmless, then truth must needs be useless” (Abraham Booth) – there is no room for teaching error in The Little Ark!

Tabertots

Tabertots (short for Tabernacle Toddlers) is for children aged 2.5 – 6 years old. Young they may be, they have a huge capacity for the Word of God and it is important for them to be build up in the Lord. Matthew 19:14 ‘But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Since 2010, a systematic procedure modelled after the church worship service is put into place. This prepares the children to be part of the main worship service. At the same time, this allows them to know what to expect and what is expected of them when they are worshipping the Almighty God.

Regular Baptist Press’ Planting Faith is used for the teaching materials. The children are taught songs and memory verses as well.  The year 2010 saw the Tabertots ministry undertaking the theme of The Salvation of the Young Ones. With the focus in mind, the teachers will infuse the Gospel into the lessons. For the year 2011, the ministry will embark on the theme ‘Prayer’.

By God’s grace, may the children love the Lord, know His Word and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Basic Bible Class

Basic Bible Class comprises of 10 lessons prior to the catechumens seeking admission to the Church by baptism, reaffirmation and transfer of membership. The aim of the BBC is to help them to know the fundamentals of the Christian faith that they may grow thereby in the Lord Jesus Christ. Elder Douglas Ho is in charge of the BBC.

Domestic Helper Ministry

The domestic helper ministry started in Nov 2009 when we see the need to reach out to the helpers from foreign land. Deaconess Shuping oversees this ministry, and each Lord’s day, sisters from our church conduct bible study with the domestic helpers. Thank God that some have already trusted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. Also in Nov 2010, 1 of the domestic helper came forward to be baptized and acknowledged Christ publicly.  May the Lord continue to use this ministry to convert sinners and to build up His people.
