Dear Brethren,
A blessed Easter Lord’s Day to everyone. Today we rejoice and praise God together as we remember our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who rose from dead on the third day. We also rejoice with our brethren who will be baptized or reaffirmed in their faith today in obedience to the Lord’s command. We rejoice that the Lord has given us another Easter Lord’s Day worship which is a great blessing to our souls.
This Easter as we meditate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, I want to exhort you to pray to the Lord these 2 verses as penned in the Holy Scriptures.
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” Philippians 3:10
As a child of God, we ought to pray that we will know our Heavenly Father more and more. As you worship the Lord today this Easter service, make this prayer in Philippians 3:10 to be a personal prayer from your heart to God. We have prayed much for our physical needs and infirmities. It is important we also spend time to pray for God to renew our spiritual life and to grow spiritually to know our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ more. Pray that we will know the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and to experience it personally. We need to live in the power of God so that we can resist temptations and flee from youthful lusts.
“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you…what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 1: 16-20
The Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian Christians to understand and experience the exceeding greatness of God’s power in raising Jesus from the dead. This is a prayer we ought to pray too for ourselves. Our spiritual lives are mediocre and shallow and often our love for God is cold. The Bible tells us the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in us who believed. We need to pray for this power to work in us mightily too. May this Easter Lord’s Day be a day of renewal of our spiritual lives before God.
