Dear Brethren,
MH370 Plane Crash and Korea Ferry Capsize – What if you were a passenger?
I am sure we are saddened by these 2 recent disasters in which more than 400 lives were lost in the 2 tragic accidents. Almost all of us would have taken a plane and a ferry before in our lives. We would go into the plane or ferry happily with great expectation for the travel and it would hardly cross our minds the plane would crash or the ferry would sink. For the more than 400 passengers in the disasters, the experience to face death was very real as they knew they had a very limited time left before the plane or ferry would go down. I believe many would frantically want to call their loved ones to say goodbye and to say how much they love and miss them. Many might have written last word messages for their loved ones hoping it would be read somehow.
I was considering this sad scenario and asking myself what if I was inside the plane or ferry. How would I have reacted during that brief period before facing a certain death? Am I ready to face God knowing my “death appointment” has finally arrived? I thank God for His grace and mercy that I am saved in the Lord Jesus Christ and He has promised me an eternal home in Heaven. The Lord was very gracious to save me as a young teenage 13 year old boy in secondary 1. Thank God for my teacher who has the burden and love to share the Gospel to me. I pray that many passengers in the MH370 plane and Korea ferry would have cried to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation before their final breath is taken away. Have you trusted the Lord Jesus as your personal Saviour to be saved from your sins and eternal condemnation? The reality of death is very real. May the plane and ferry disaster awaken our soul to plead for mercy from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 May Chinese Gospel Meeting – Have you done anything?
Our Church will have our annual Chinese Gospel meeting this Thursday 1 May 2014. Have you done anything for Jesus to invite someone to come? Has your heart gone so cold that you are not bothered about souls anymore? We do not always have opportunity and let us not waste this 1 May Gospel meeting opportunity to reach out to unbelieving loved ones and friends.
I like to share 4 reasons which was my message to the Simei Care meeting last Saturday 19 April 2014 on “Why should we share the Gospel?”
1. God commands us to go and share the Gospel
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19
2. We must pay our Gospel Debt
“I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.” Romans 1:14
3. It is a wise thing to do
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30
4. We face God’s woe if we keep our mouth shut
“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel.” 1 Corinthians 9:16
Let this verse exhort us to be ready to share and not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May the Lord use us in the 1 May Gospel meeting for His glory!
“So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:15-16
