MR. ANDREW LUM’S HOMEGOING TESTIMONY
(With Minor Revisions and Edits)

My Last Testimony on Earth – When the bough breaks … to GOD be the glory,
honour and praise.

First and foremost, I want to thank God that I’m now in His comforting, assuring and
loving arms. Oh what joy, what bliss, what thrill and what unending delight!
I can never thank our Lord Jesus enough for His unconditional love for us. All we’ve to
do is to repent of all our sins and acknowledge Him as our personal Lord and Saviour.
Christians should never fear death for, “to depart, and to be with Christ is far
better.” (Philippians 1:23)

Though I’m now lying-in-state, I thank Jesus that I can praise and glorify Him still for
the last time on earth. Our one and only true, wise and loving God is a God of truth,
love, mercy and grace. He says in His Holy Bible, “I am the LORD, and there is none
else, there is no God beside me.” (Isaiah 45:5a) What a colossal statement!

I can never praise God enough for touching my stubborn and unbelieving heart in my
mid-forties. Since I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour, I’ve had peace in
my heart, despite all the ups and downs, and the weal and woe of earthly life. Total
peace – to be precise. Praise God.

I can never thank Jesus enough, for blessing me with a long life, despite a host of
ailments, from head to toe literally. The most frightening one was my heart attack one
day before Chinese New Year, 24 January 2009. In spite of all these, Jesus had blessed
me with mobility, a clear mind, and the priceless and precious gifts of sight, speech,
sound, smell and taste. Praise God.

Now in all humility and love, I beg all of you not to weep nor feel sad for me. Jesus says
to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8) Rather,
weep for yourselves if you have not accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour.
So I beg all to please accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your only Lord and Saviour before
it’s too late. We never know when death will strike us. One day, when we least expect it,
death will knock at our heart’s door. Perhaps, one morning, waking up in intense heat,
you may find yourself burning in hell – crying, weeping and gnashing your teeth for
mercy and a second chance. By then, it’ll be too late. I shudder to think what would
happen, if you still stubbornly reject or ignore Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and
Saviour.

While the Door of God is open, please, I beg all of you, please accept Jesus Christ
without delay. Otherwise, you will regret it for the rest of your life as one suffers
eternally in hell. I shiver and shudder to think why you do not care for your precious
soul.

Unlike horrible nightmares, which set our hearts pounding and which will go away
when we wake up; in hell, the torment is forever and ever. God’s Holy Bible
continually warns us of this terrifying place called hell – 162 references in total.

Dr Maurice Rawlings, a specialist in cardiovascular disease, published a book called
“Beyond Death’s Door”. He, an atheist, who considered all religions hocus-pocus, was
resuscitating a terrified man, who kept screaming, “I’m in hell! Don’t let me go back to
hell!” Dr Maurice Rawlings said no one who had heard his screams and seen the look
of terror on his face could doubt for a single minute that he was actually in hell.

So please, all of you, receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour without
delay and right now. How? Just simply and humbly pray, “Lord Jesus, I now receive
you as my personal Lord and Saviour. Please forgive me of all my sins.”

God does not want us to go to hell. Hell is prepared for Satan and his fallen angels.
(Matthew 25:41) Surely you would not like to join them, weeping and gnashing your
teeth in great, unceasing pain forever.

Some subscribe to the saying, “Seeing is believing”, but to God, “Believing is seeing”.
In short, God wants us to walk in faith, and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:17) What a
comforting promise and assurance by God when He says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31)

It’s very sad how many are living in this worldly world, without any care for their
precious souls. They deceive themselves by ignoring their precious, immortal souls.
They think that death is the end of everything – nothingness or vaporisation like a mist.
Sadly, they are deadly wrong. Our eternal soul lives and will be judged by the Lord
Jesus Christ – either sent to Heaven or to the fiery hell.

Please, I beg of you, do not join Satan in hell. Please get hold of a Bible immediately.
God speaks to you personally. You can behold wondrous truths, promises, warnings
and blessings in it. I humbly challenge you to read it, or disprove it. God’s Word
confirms, “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him,
and he in God.” (1 John 4:15) there are no penances to pay, no entry fees, etc.
Many believe that they can approach our Holy God through meditation or mysticism.
Others wrongly believe that they need a priest, a bishop, or even Mary to draw near to
God.

I was a Catholic for 5 years, but I left the church, and never went back. The true faith is
such that we must approach only Jesus Christ as the only Mediator between God and
men.

Our Lord Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Please heed God’s Holy Word. Please go to a Bible-
believing Protestant Church where God’s Word is faithfully and fearfully taught.

It is my earnest and sincere desire that I’ll see all of you in blissful, delightful and unending
joy in Heaven.

May God bless you and keep you till He comes, or when you go to Him in His heavenly
Heaven. What a glorious day awaits those who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ!

I love all of you and because of my great love and concern for your soul, I appeal to all of
you for the last time, please accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and only Saviour.

Yours in His everlasting love,
Andrew Lum

Pastor’s note: The testimony was written on 10 November 2010 by Mr Lum in preparation
of his homegoing, and kept in confidence with Elder John Leong. Now that Mr Lum has
gone home to be with the Lord, it is now published with minor edits and revisions, for the
benefit of all readers.

A Note of Thanks from the Bereaved Family

I have been very impressed and touched by the church, both pastors and church members, in
showing their love and concern in helping my brother’s family organise the memorial
services and burial. Most of all, I appreciate the strong spiritual and moral support given
through the turnout of both young and old at the services and burial. I thank the Lord that
my brother had a strong church family who supported him and helped him grow in the grace
and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please convey our utmost gratitude to both pastors
and church members from Andrew Lum’s brothers and sisters.

Youngest Sister Kim

Pastor’s note: The young people have recently learnt from the book of Ecclesiastes, “It is
better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end
of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the
sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.” (Eccl. 7:2-3) I am most glad that they
have taken God’s Word seriously in their hearts. May we not neglect this needful ministry
of attending homegoing, funeral and burial services, to the praise of our Saviour. All glory
be to the Lord Jesus Christ.
