INSTALLATION OF SESSION

We thank God for the recent election of Session Members to the church on 1
July 2023. According to Article 12.3, “The elected Church Session shall be
formally installed into office at a Service of Consecration to be held on an
appropriate Lord’s Day soon after election.” Thus, we have gathered all
today to witness the installation of the newly elected Session. Charges will be
issued to the church leaders, as well as to the congregation.

The relevant questions and statements are as follows:

Charge to the Officers
(Members of Session to come forward)
As we stand before the congregation, understand the appointment placed on
you should be entered with solemnity and faith. Give careful attention to the
office entrusted to you. Fulfill all its functions as unto the Lord.

1. Do you believe in the divine, Verbal Plenary Inspiration (Autographs)
and Verbal Plenary Preservation of the Scriptures (Apographs) in the
original languages, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and as the
perfect Word of God, the Supreme and final authority in faith and life?

2. Do you sincerely receive and adopt the Confession of Faith, the
Catechisms, and the Constitution of this Church as containing the system
of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures?

3. Do you approve the government and discipline of Tabernacle Bible
Presbyterian Church?

4. Having prayerfully considered the nature and purpose of the work for
which you have been chosen, will you consider you appointment a call
from God?

5. Are you willing to accept the duties of the office in this congregation to
which you have been elected as responsibilities committed to you by the
Lord of the church, and promise to perform all duties thereof
conscientiously, diligently and faithfully, which is your reasonable
service and sacrifice?

6. Will you seek to fulfil your responsibilities in the power of the Holy
Spirit, and as unto the Lord Jesus Christ?

7. Do you promise to keep the peace, purity and unity of the Church?

8. Do you promise to devote yourself, to holy living, to pray without
ceasing, and to the study of God’s Word?

9. Do you promise to faithfully proclaim the pure gospel of Christ, and to
earnestly contend for the faith till the glorious return of Jesus Christ?

Oath of Allegiance to God and His Word
The Bible is none other than the voice of Him that sitteth upon the Throne!
Every Book of it, every chapter of it, every verse of it, every word of it, every
syllable of it, every letter of it, is the direct utterance of the Most High. The
Bible is none other than the Word of God: not some part of it more, some
part of it less; but all alike, the utterance of Him who sitteth upon the Throne;
faultless, unerring, supreme. So help me God to fulfil all that I have promised
to do, to the glory of Thy Holy Name. Amen.

Charge to Congregation
(Congregation to stand)
Since apostolic times, leadership of Christian churches has been entrusted to
godly individuals. A congregation must be supportive of the people of whom
the Lord has called to office, as taught in Hebrews 13:17-18, “Obey them
that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your
souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not
with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Pray for us: for we trust we have
a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.”

1. Do you, the members of Tabernacle Bible Presbyterian Church,
acknowledge and receive these leaders, entering with them into the spirit
of the vows they have just made to God and this church?

2. Do you promise to yield them all honour and obedience in the Lord, to
which their office entitles them, according to God’s Word and the Church
Constitution?

3. Do you promise to encourage them, cooperate with them, and pray for
them, according to the teaching of God’s Holy Word?

Yours affectionately,
Pastor Clement Chew
